More than 10 kg of ice drug found at Islamabad Airport, Sri Lankan arrested

A Sri Lankan national was arrested after thwarting an attempt to smuggle more than 10 kilograms of ice drug worth crores of rupees from the New Islamabad International Airport.

According to the details, the briefing of Flight No. QR 613 from New Islamabad Airport to Doha was going on when the Sri Lankan passenger Ramwesh Chatharanga Pinto arrived at the airport for the journey.

At the baggage search counter, the staff at the joint counter of ANF and Airport Security Force checked the luggage of the passenger and found more than 10 kg of ice skillfully hidden in the trolley bag.

Officials said that the passenger was taken into custody along with drugs, the accused was leaving Sri Lanka via Doha flight.

On the other hand, ANF recovered 5 kg of hashish and 1 kg of heroin from a vehicle in Mangopir area of Karachi and arrested two accused residents of Karachi, while 17 kg of hashish hidden for the purpose of smuggling was recovered in Jurubi Zakha Khel area of Khyber.

Cases have been registered against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act and further investigation has been started.
